Secret Weapon: Bring on the Criticism

Since you aspire to be the best version of yourself…

Isolate the PERSON from their WORDS. It feels better for you.

Quickly grade what level criticism you’re receiving to determine its value to your life

Level 1

Delivered to your face, clarifying questions are asked, critical thinking is utilized, other human empathizes with your POV/situation, NOT making it about them. Pertinent tools, solutions, advice and examples are offered.

Level 2

All of that gets delivered but not face to face.

Level 3

Speedy replies are offered, few or no questions asked, critic approaches from their reality. It feels preachy, fear-based, judge-y and no tools or solutions are offered.

Level 4

Anonymous: keyboard bandits, group-think, bandwagoners, zero substance, echo chamber, no solutions, just opinions. A desperate bid for significance. Send love instead.

Decide to only care about levels 1 and 2 because the rest are a giant waste of your time and precious energy.

We know you’re upleveling so we mine Level 1 & 2 Criticism for its usefulness.

Scan it for bits of validity.

Is it relevant NOW or do I need to keep in in mind?

Decide how you will apply it right away specifically to do/be better?

You just got a lifehack – yes!

Thank them, if that’s authentic for you.

Optional Wildcard: What is their motive?

(Don’t evaluate this if it feels bad! I only do it to note people who feel safe so I can run things by them later. Potential teammates?)

Learning to accept criticism and see its value is critical tool to bolster your personal growth.
Why not glean valuable insight and use it to better yourself?

What if you could appreciate the wisdom and toss the negative feelings in the garbage?
